We Support Lives and Livelihoods
On most label manufacturing company websites, this is usually the page that contains the company’s capabilities, technologies, number of presses, etc… We thought it might be more beneficial (and an easier read!) for you to know who you’re partnering with, and how Nev’s Ink came to be.
When Gary bought an old printing press and set up in a small shop in Cudahy, Wisconsin in 1989, his mission wasn’t to print and sell labels. It was to do it better than the others…and, of course, to afford a closet full of neatly starched dress shirts.
Antiquated and slow, the press had one advantage - it was inexpensive to run, giving us the ability to produce small orders at a reasonable price. We came in early, we worked late, and we cared for each other - even watching each other’s kids when a big order on a slow machine meant a late night at work.
But that first press’s disadvantages are what turned us into who we are today…a company that learned to work harder, sell smarter, operate more efficiently, and interact with greater communication just to get the product out the door.
Getting it right first was key.
Why were those early years important? Because now that work is second nature and we can focus on the fun. You spend 8 hours a day at work…it doesn’t matter if you are in customer service, accounting, or on the floor printing and sending out shipments of labels. You have to enjoy it. You have to understand the lives your work supports. You have to know the business supports your livelihood as well.
The funny thing about manufacturing…It can be any widget, delivered with relenting service, smart choices, and kept promises, and the result is the same - happy customers, happy employees, and a happy company.
