Nev’s Ink manufactures autoclave tape, (commonly called autoclave indicator tape) which is used to determine that the items have gone through the sterilization process.
Once the taped item has passed through the steam sterilization process, the ink is activated and changes colors. It can adhere directly to the item going through the steam sterilization process and is often used with an autoclave wrap.
Lead-free autoclave tape is very well-suited for the research environment and is more environmentally friendly than its leaded counterpart due to it being lead and latex-free. It features an aggressive, pressure-sensitive adhesive designed to adhere directly to substrates during the sterilization process. After the sterilization process, the indicator tape is designed to be removed easily and cleanly. Nev’s Ink Lead-Free Autoclave tape also features a chemical indicator to verify that it has gone through the sterilization process. The indicator ink in the green stripes will change to black on the tape after 10 minutes at 121°C or 2 minutes at 134°C in a steam sterilizer.
