The pharmacy is the central hub for medicine distribution throughout an entire hospital. Medicine is one of the most pivotal players in the care of a patient. Auxiliary labels are used to provide additional necessary information. For example, these pharmacy labels may advise a patient to eat and drink something before consuming the medication. Furthermore, there are instances when a previously utilized label must be covered up to prevent a mishap. HIPAA compliant labels utilize a material we call gray back. Gray back material can be used to create pharmacy labels that fully mask previously labeled information and that provide new, more accurate data. In some cases, medicines that will help a patient (chemotherapy) can harm others in the process. Chemotherapy labels are a type of pharmacy labels that provide a cautionary warning to all those handling the medicine that it is in fact a toxic substance. Pharmacy labels allow for the positive identification of medicines and further provide more detailed information for the proper handling and consumption of said medicine.
