Specimens are taken from patients all of the time in the hospital. Pathology tapes are of utmost importance to differentiate between specimens from different patients. Pathology tapes allow hospital staff to write in name, date, specimen and room number among other possibilities to insure positive patient identification in relation to pathology specimens. Stock pathology tapes are white and have either black or white imprinting. Furthermore, they range in size from 1 to 2 in width but all are 500 in length and are wound on a 1 core.
