Whether a patient is having a special procedure done of if the hospital staff simply wants to make sure that a patient is receiving a certain level of calories, calorie count labels remind all of those involved to detail all calories in a patients intake. Calorie count labels can be added to the top of a chart or on a sheet on the patients door. No matter the location, calorie count labels are a quick reminder to keep track because this could be very important for a patients treatment. For example, a diabetic patient may need to receive a certain amount of insulin based upon the number of sugar calories that were eaten. Calorie count labels can be used in conjunction with menu labeling which includes the calories of each menu item eaten or along with diet information labels that specifically describe certain aspects of a food (for example,a high protein label could be included on a meat product).
